THE PERFECT FIT
The Bexley fit is the result of 15 years of research. Bexley's requirements were combined with the craft and the art of Italian last makers. In other words, globally size 41 Bexley shoes have the same measurements and are of the same quality: a seat that hugs the heel of your foot, a heel that is neither too high nor too low, a high instep that narrows at the base and a roomy toe box. A popular misconception is that shoe size depends on the length of one's feet or shoes. In actual fact, it's all about the instep. This explains why different shoes of the same size can vary in length and the space separating your toes from the inside tip of your shoes is more or less wide. Bexley shoes are crafted in French sizes and half-sizes, which are the most accurate. If you're ever unsure about size, opt for the larger (moccasins excluded). The Size Chart link provides a table for converting French shoe sizes to their English, American and Japanese counterparts. Few Bexley shoes are ever returned. Of course, should you ever choose the wrong size we will exchange them free of charge.
To know if a style fits you:
You have to be comfortable in your shoes without any discomfort or pain.
Your heel should be maintained when you walk. For the loafers, it’s very important to have the instep and the heel maintained. There is no need that the toes touch the extremity of the toecap. Indeed some styles are longer and some others are shorter. Good to know: You can not stretch the leather. So if the pair of shoes seems to be a little short, we advise you to choose the half-size higher. If the shoes aren’t been worn, you can make an exchange. For the people who have a large instep, we advise you to choose some Derby styles which allow a better opening of the quarters. In order to help you in your choice, you will find below some styles with generous dimensions that fit better for people with larger insteps:

When a shoe lacks of volume, the first and easiest solution would be to increase the width while keeping the length of the last. The foot would have more room but the proportions and the design are completely destroyed and moreover the foot is not at its ease.

HOW TO SELECT THE RIGHT OUTSOLE
Leather outsole:
Leather-soled shoes are recommended in certain circumstances. Many shoe aficionados, for instance, love the feel, elegance, sound and slip that only leather soles can provide, especially when waltzing on waxed parquet floors!
Take care if you are wearing new leather outsoles in wet weather, they 're going to be very slippery!
Placing rubber pads on the bottoms of your soles will prolong the life of your shoes and keep you from slipping. Unlike other makers of fine footwear, we do recommend non-slip rubber pads. If you add them to the bottoms of your shoes, first brush the soles clean and make sure the stitching is not damaged.
Rubber outsole:
All Bexley rubber soles are made almost entirely of natural rubber to make them flexible, light and abrasion resistant. You should never have to take them to your local shoe repair shop.
Beware of misleading labels: Depending on current laws in each country, outsoles marked "100% latex" may in fact contain zero natural rubber.
SHOE CARE
You should have at least, two pairs of shoes, and rotate them; your two pairs will last much longer than if you had bought one pair after the other. However, don't forget that feet change size and shape, don't wear the same shoes for years and years!.
Keep your shoes in shape during your off hours (even overnight) with unvarnished softwood shoe trees.
If your shoes are dirty, wipe them clean with a damp sponge and soapy water and let air dry.
Once they are clean and dry, apply a generous layer of deep penetrating cream to make your shoes shine like new. Try alternating different shades for a different look.
Let dry for a full 48 hours then wipe away the excess polish with a cloth. Shine your shoes each morning with a sheepskin buffing mitt to keep them looking great.
You can clean nubuck with soap and water, you can also brush it with a special brush.
Waterproof and other sprays may require special precautions.
For oily nubuck in dark colors, you can also apply liquid dubbin, we recommend this specially for boat shoes, which need to be nourished.
SHOE CARE AND STAINS
Alcohol Stains
Take absorbent paper to sponge the liquid on the shoe. Then wipe delicately with a duster impregnated with a mix of water and alcohol.
Grease Stains
Do not try to remove stains of grease on your leather shoes with some water and soap. You could easily take them out with some "Terre de Sommières".
Hard Water or Salt Stains
Wipe your shoes with a duster impregnated with water and some vinegar. Let them dry. Then smear the leather with vaseline. Wait a moment and clean. After, wax your shoes with leather cream and polish them wit a polishing mitt.

Goodyear welting deserves the best materials, and Bexley selects only the finest around. We use the world's best calf leather from renowned French tanneries in Le Puy and Annonay. All of our shoes are fully lined with full-grain aniline vegetable-tanned calf leather. The sock, lining, sole and welt are made of leather and the footbed is made of cork.
